Deb and I went out today to pick up an aircraft when just before departing the Class D airpsace we heard, "Reading Tower, Good Year Blimp 7 miles East at 2000 would like to transition your airspace to the West." They were cleared of course, so even though we had an appointment to keep we decided this was an opportunity not to pass up. so we radioed back to Reading that we'd like to reverse course for a photo op of the blimp. Our course reversal was approved. If you haven't seen a blimp actually fly, they are very slow. Top speed might be 20 knots. While trying to head off the blimp, we actually decided we had enough time to land, get a better camera and get back in the air to take our shots. So we did. Here are a few of those pictures. http://newhorizonsaviation.net\pics_and_sounds\pics_web_use\COG 2010 - Blimp 080.JPG[/img] http://newhorizonsaviation.net\pics_and_sounds\pics_web_use\COG 2010 - Blimp 083.JPG[/img] http://newhorizonsaviation.net\pics_and_sounds\pics_web_use\COG 2010 - Blimp 106.JPG[/img] http://newhorizonsaviation.net\pics_and_sounds\pics_web_use\COG 2010 - Blimp 108.JPG[/img] ;D --- Only in Aviation --- ;D

I watched it go by my office this morning. Man is it slow! Two IO-360 burning 20-25 gal per hour to go maybe 250 miles in a day
